Alco Century Series Handrail Stanchions (Set C) – $16.95

This set of handrail stanchions is for the Alco and MLW century series locomotives.  The set includes 32 side sill stanchions, 6 top sill mounted stanchions (next to cab), 8 front sill mounted stanchions with angled bracket, 2 front extended stanchions with safety chain, 2 front Canadian style extended stanchions with safety chain, 2 drilling templates and 8 cab mounting tabs for the handrails.  The side sill stanchions are mounted by drilling two holes into the side of the sill (using the drilling template) and then inserting the two pins at the base of the stanchion into the holes.  CA is recommended for attaching the stanchions to the sill.  The 6 top sill mounted stanchions are the stanchions that are located in front of and behind the cab doors.  They are bent into shape using the fold lines.  They can be mounted to the sill using CA.  We recommend removing the diamond plate pattern from the sill surface where the stanchion is being attached to get a better bond with the CA.  The 8 front sill mounted stanchions consist of 2 pieces.  The vertical stanchion and the angled bracket.  The angled bracket is folded and attached to the rectangular pad on the side of the stanchion with CA.  The stanchion is then attached to the front of the sill the same way as the side sill stanchions.  We recommend either .010″ or .0125″  phosphor bronze wire for the handrails.  In the photos below .0125″ phosphor bronze wire was used.
