Atlas O-Scale EMD SW8,9,1200 Radiator Core – $9.95

This set is for the radiator core which is housed and visible beneath the top screens of the long hood.  The core is a 3 piece assembly consisting of the mounting plate, core and core frame.  The front middle flap of the mounting plate is bent upward to mount the headlight box sides.  The rear flap of the mounting plate is also bent upward.  The edges of the core are all bent downward.  The core is attached to the mounting plate by inserting the small pins of the core into the holes in the mounting plate.  CA is recommended for this.  The core frame is attached to the top of the core with CA as well.  Finally the headlight box is folded into a U-shape and attached to the front flap.  A small piece of electrical tape can be attached over the top of the box once the headlight is installed.  The core assemble can be attached to the inside of the shell using CA and styrene strips for bracing.  We recommend painting all surfaces of the radiator core a dull grey color but leave the actual core fins stainless.
