Alco RS-1 Long Hood Door Replacement Panels – $25.00
This set makes it possible to model RS-1’s with their long hood doors in the opened position. RS-1’s were notorious for overheating in warmer weather and it was not uncommon to see them with their long hood doors open and hatches opened in an attempt to avoid overheating. Installation requires the modeler to cut the shell along the body lines and across the top mold line. The fret includes (left to right) separate doors, structural replacement panel, panel faceplate with detail, panel faceplate with detail, structural replacement panel and finally the separate doors. Parts on the left side of the fret make one side while parts on the right side of the fret are for the other side. CA glue is recommended for all bonds.

CA glue is recommended for attaching all parts.
The back side of the replacement panel shows the mounting tabs that act as stiffeners and also mounting points. They can be bent with flat nosed pliers.
The front side of the replacement panel with the separate doors attached. For doors that are in the opened position the hinges have to be bent to match the angle of the opened door. This will make the door lay flat on the hinged section of the panel and the opened door.
