HO U33c Phase 1 Shells

HO Scale GE U33c Phase 1 Shells

The GE U33c Phase 1 body was easily identified by the fairings that transitioned the long hood to the flared radiator section.  Increases in horsepower of the prime mover over the U30c required that a larger radiator core be used which needed an extended section of long hood to house the core.  This was the birth of the unique GE flared radiator housing.  The Phase 1 units had fairings that transitioned the flared radiator section to the car body.  Phase 2 units had this left off which makes it pretty easy to spot a Phase 1 unit.  Other spotting features of the Phase 1 body are mesh intake screens instead of the corrugated fine mesh screen used on Phase 2 units.  There were 3 basic Phase 1 body styles, all of which we offer.  We have broken it down by railroad to make it easier to figure out which railroad had which body style.
